Restore Your Emotional Balance

Regulate your nervous system and reclaim your inner calm.

Finding true peace isn't about ignoring the world; it is about navigating it with a steady hand and a calm mind. When the weight of daily life feels overwhelming, or when your body remains in a constant state of high alert, it becomes impossible to see clearly or rest deeply.

These therapies are designed to soothe the nervous system and quiet the internal noise. By addressing the root causes of emotional distress, you can move from a place of survival to a place of safety, building the resilience needed to handle life’s challenges with grace and confidence.

Support for Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is more than just feeling stressed; it can be an exhausting, ever-present shadow that colors your entire world, making even simple tasks feel insurmountable. Living in a state of constant high alert drains your energy and erodes your confidence.

Whether you are grappling with the relentless background chatter of Generalised Anxiety, the paralyzing fear of judgment in Social Anxiety, the intrusive, spiraling worries of Health Anxiety, or acute distress tied to specific Situational triggers, you do not have to navigate this alone.

These sessions provide a safe, non-judgmental space dedicated to de-escalating your overwrought nervous system. You move beyond mere surface-level coping mechanisms to address the subconscious roots of the fear. Through guided deep relaxation techniques, the "alarm bells" in your mind are quieted, creating a receptive state where old, limiting thought patterns can be gently challenged and reframed. The goal is to build lasting emotional resilience, empowering you to face life’s uncertainties with confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of calm control.

Support for Panic Attacks

A panic attack can feel like a sudden, overwhelming storm—striking without warning and leaving you feeling powerless, breathless, and terrified. The physical sensations of a racing heart, chest tightness, and the feeling of losing control are intense and often debilitating.

Panic is often a misfiring of the body’s natural "fight or flight" response—an internal alarm system that has become too sensitive. These sessions help you dismantle the fear of the fear itself. You can learn to reset your nervous system, teaching your mind to distinguish between true danger and false alarms. Alongside this deep work, you will be equipped with practical, powerful grounding strategies. These tools act as an immediate anchor, allowing you to rapidly de-escalate stress, regain your breath, and step back into a place of safety and calm.

Support for Stress Relief

Chronic stress can often feel like a heavy fog that settles over your days, dulling your focus and slowly draining your vitality. When you are constantly operating in survival mode, juggling endless demands, it becomes difficult to see the path forward or find a moment of true peace. But you do not have to carry that weight indefinitely.

These sessions are designed to serve as your reset button, guiding you out of the chaos and into a state of deep, restorative relaxation. It is about more than just taking a break; it is about fundamentally shifting how your mind processes pressure. By restoring emotional balance, you can quiet the mental noise and reclaim a sense of agency over your life. Imagine navigating your daily challenges not with tension and fatigue, but with a renewed sense of clarity, calm, and steady control.

Support for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Your gut and brain are in constant communication—so much so that the gut is often called the "second brain." Because of this deep connection, when you are feeling mentally strained or anxious, it is common for digestive issues to manifest physically. If you live with IBS, you likely notice that symptoms worsen during stressful periods, creating a frustrating cycle of discomfort and worry.

Hypnotherapy offers a way to break this loop by soothing the overactive communication pathway between your mind and your body. By calming the deep-seated stress responses that trigger flare-ups, you can "dial down" gut sensitivity, reduce the intensity of symptoms, and regain a sense of comfort and control in your daily life.

Support for Insomnia

Sleep is the foundation of your well-being, yet for many, it remains elusive. Instead of dreading the night and the frustration of a racing mind, you can learn to regulate your sleep cycle and naturally drift into rest.

These sessions focus on promoting deep relaxation and quieting mental noise, helping you build healthy, sustainable sleep patterns from the inside out. Whether you are facing a short-term disruption or navigating chronic sleep difficulties, you can retrain your brain to associate the bedroom with safety and calm, allowing you to finally get the restorative rest you need.

Support for Chronic Pains & Migraines

Living with chronic pain or recurring migraines can feel like your world is shrinking around the discomfort, forcing you to constantly calculate your energy and limitations. However, pain is not just a physical sensation; it is a signal processed by the brain, and you have more influence over that process than you might realize.

These sessions are designed to help you retrain your brain’s response to pain signals, effectively "turning down the volume" on discomfort. By altering how you perceive and process these sensations, you can reduce their intensity and reclaim your daily functioning. This approach offers you a pathway to manage ongoing conditions, move with greater ease, and find a renewed sense of comfort and freedom in your body.

POPULAR QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions?

What can I expect during a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session?

Each session follows a consistent structure. We begin by focusing on your strengths, successes, and uplifting moments from the past week (about 30 minutes). This part includes relevant neuroscience to help you understand your progress. The second part involves guided relaxation using hypnotic trance (about 20 minutes), where I use gentle language and therapeutic metaphors to help your mind settle and imagine the future you're working towards. Clients often leave feeling calm, refreshed, and clearer.

How often should I schedule hypnotherapy sessions?

Weekly sessions are recommended for maintaining momentum and achieving steady, positive progress. I understand this may not always be possible, so if you need flexibility, please get in touch to discuss your situation.

How long does it take to see results from hypnotherapy?

The timeframe varies based on your specific goals and commitment. Many clients experience an "aha moment" and increased clarity after the Initial Consultation. For some issues, like general phobias, treatment can often be completed in a block of 4 sessions. For deeper challenges like Weight Management, most clients require between 8-12 sessions, sometimes more. Consistent commitment is key to lasting results.

Can Solution Focused Hypnotherapy help with weight management or phobias?

Yes, absolutely.

Weight Management: SFH helps reshape the way you think about food, movement, and lifestyle choices. It works at a deeper level than willpower alone by lowering stress and emotional pressures, building confidence, and regulating sleep patterns—all crucial factors in weight control.

Phobias: We use structured sessions, including desensitisation (rewind) techniques, to replace automatic fear responses with calm, rational reactions.

How do I get started with Empowered Minds Hypnotherapy?

Getting started is easy! Simply schedule an Initial Consultation through my website or contact me directly. During the consultation, we'll discuss your goals, share a simple explanation of how the brain works, and determine the approximate number of sessions recommended for you.

What is trance?

The easiest way to explain trance is that it is simply a state of focused deep relaxation—very similar to a daydream. You have likely experienced this natural state many times without realizing it. Have you ever driven to a destination and arrived with no clear memory of the journey? That is a form of trance. It is a perfectly safe, normal state that occurs often throughout the day, whether you are going for a run, getting lost in a good book, or watching a movie. It feels like a pleasant, deep rest for the mind.

Will I get stuck in trance or hypnosis?

Not at all. You remain in control at all times. Even if you drift into a light sleep during the session, you will awaken fully the moment you are spoken to or asked to open your eyes. No one has power over you during hypnosis, and you retain full agency to bring yourself out of the state whenever you choose.

How many sessions will I need?

Because every individual is unique, the number of sessions varies depending on your goals. For most standard therapy needs, meaningful and lasting change typically occurs between 8 to 12 sessions, though some may require more.

Smoking/Vaping Cessation: This is different and usually requires just one comprehensive 2-hour session.

Phobias: If the phobia is not linked to high levels of general anxiety, these can often be treated in a block of 4 sessions.

Can my mind be read while I am hypnotized?

No. Hypnotherapy is not mind-reading, and you cannot be made to reveal your deepest secrets. Your private thoughts remain your own. You are simply in a state of relaxation where your mind is more open to positive suggestions; you do not lose control of your speech or your secrets.

Will there be a swinging watch?

No, there are no stage tricks or swinging pocket watches here. The sessions are grounded in modern neuroscience. The time is spent explaining how the brain works, helping you identify the positives in your life, and building a clear picture of how you want your future to look. The session then concludes with guided trance work to reinforce those positive shifts.

Are there special powers involved?

There is no magic wand, and there are no supernatural powers at play. Your therapist is a human being—likely one who loses their car keys just as often as you do! The "magic" does not come from the therapist; it comes from you. You are the one fixing yourself by listening, engaging, and retraining your mind to focus on solutions rather than problems. The therapist simply provides the tools and the guidance to help you do it.

Is it true that not everyone can be hypnotized?

The truth lies with the individual. If you are open to the process and willing to participate, you can enter a hypnotic state. It is not about having a special talent; it is simply about your ability to trust the process and allow yourself to relax. If you want it to work, it can.

Is hypnotherapy scientifically backed?

Yes. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based practice. Numerous studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and sleep disorders. Furthermore, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) explicitly recognizes and supports the use of hypnotherapy for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

Will I be made to cluck like a chicken?

Absolutely not. Clinical hypnotherapy is completely different from stage hypnosis. You will never be asked to do anything embarrassing, nor can you be made to give up personal information like your phone password or PIN. Your moral compass and sense of self-protection remain active throughout the entire experience.

TESTIMONIALS

What do clients say

“Em is a star! I saw Em about a fear of taking my own blood via finger

prick tests. Following our sessions I was able to take my blood via this

method with no problem, and I no longer have this fear. I didn’t dream this would be possible and it has been a massive gamechanger for monitoring my health!! I highly recommend Em, she put me at ease from the first session and I left feeling confident and calm."

Alex

“I started hypnotherapy because I’d been struggling with anxiety and low self-esteem for so long that it left me feeling low and worn out. Since beginning my sessions, everything has shifted — I feel calmer, more positive, and I’m no longer overthinking every little thing. I’ve even found the confidence to try new things like paddle boarding, snorkelling, and getting back on a bike. I genuinely enjoy exploring new places now. I used to think this only began a few years back when it got worse, but I can see now that I’ve lived with anxiety and low self-belief for years, and I only wish I’d realised sooner.”

Claudia

“I used to feel anxious and overwhelmed almost all the time, constantly overthinking and struggling to make even simple decisions without worrying. Most mornings felt like a battle and I had no motivation at all. Since starting hypnotherapy, I feel far more empowered and focused, and I can move through my day without being taken over by anxiety.”

Jade

I cannot thank Emma enough, I started my sessions as I was struggling

with anxiety, low self esteem and constantly overthinking even the small

things. Since starting my sessions I started to make sense of why I was

feeling like this and slowly started to put things into practice. I now feel

that I take a step back and think things through more. I also think of all the positives when having a bad day. Emma has been brilliant and has made a massive difference to my everyday life. I highly recommend her.

Vicki

“I’d reached a point where I could see myself struggling to manage my emotions in stressful moments — things often escalated into raised voices, arguments, or feeling completely overwhelmed. I completed 8 sessions with Emma, focusing on relaxation, understanding my brain, and learning how to guide my reactions more effectively. After about 4 sessions, my husband commented on how much calmer I seemed, and a little later I began to notice it myself. Situations that would usually make me tense or angry no longer affected me in the same way. I found myself responding more calmly and easing situations rather than adding to them. I still make a conscious effort to manage my reactions, but working with Emma has genuinely helped me understand my mind and take control of how I respond.”

Katherine

I had an irrational fear of spiders for as long as I can remember. The

autumn months were a nightmare for me as I would regularly bump into

them in my home. Since completing my hypno sessions with Emma I am

able to deal with them in a calm and humane way. It’s amazing!
