Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for Children and Young People (Ages 11–18)

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a forward-looking, practical and gentle approach. Rather than focusing on problems or past experiences, we concentrate on what the young person wants to feel different and how they want their life to improve.
Clear, simple explanations of how the brain and nervous system work
Practical tools to support emotional regulation

Areas I Support Young People With
Sessions for children and young people follow the same structure as adult sessions, but are carefully adapted to suit their level of understanding.
Initial Consultation
An initial consultation is required before therapy begins. This is particularly important when working with young people. It allows me to:
Gather information about what the young person would like help with
Understand their personality, interests, likes and dislikes
Assess their level of understanding and communication style
Ensure therapy is appropriate and tailored effectively
This session helps build trust and ensures the young person feels comfortable and supported from the very beginning.
Ongoing Sessions
Each session is relaxed and conversational. Everything is explained clearly and at a pace that suits the young person. Hypnosis is a natural, calm state where they remain fully aware and in control at all times. Many young people describe sessions as feeling peaceful, calming and reassuring.
I offer therapy:
In person in North Leeds every Tuesday, for clients who prefer face-to-face sessions

"I struggled with anxiety that affected my work and home life. Em's approach gave me the tools to rationalize situations and leave stress at work. I now have the clarity and resilience to thrive. The whole process was incredibly empowering."

"After years of trying, I finally quit smoking thanks to Em's session. The change wasn't just about stopping the habit; it felt like my mind naturally turned away from it. I finally feel in control and so much more confident in my
health."

"The explanation of how my brain works was the 'aha moment' I desperately needed. I no longer feel held back by OCD symptoms. Em truly helped me reconnect with a sense of strength and focus that has improved every aspect of my life."
